| Handcrafted by Maine guide, trapper, bush pilot, and wildlife biologist Bill Mackowski, this pack basket reflects heirloom-quality artistry and centuries of tradition. Woven in the classic "Adirondack" style, Bill calls it "The Canadian Trapper's Commemorative". This particular basket is a one-of-a-kind, original prototype which served as the inspiration for the limited edition version. It is hand-decorated with miniature paintings of the historical quarry of Canadian trappers--a wolf, red fox, coyote, beaver, and lynx. Renowned as one of the finest makers of pack baskets alive, Bill forms and weaves each basket freehand—no forms are used—so every basket is utterly unique. Each basket is made from native black ash, the trunks of which are pounded laboriously to free the bark for raw material. The pack is fitted with a rugged, high-quality leather harness. 21" high.
